How I work

I work at the intersection of creativity and structure, connecting 'how things are' and 'what could be' using my non-linear skill set and a number of frameworks.

I'm highly intuitive, able to rapidly form opinions and assess the degree of uncertainty present in them. Combined with an intense curiosity, I immerse myself in the ambiguity of a compelling problem for as long as necessary. In this flow state I can:

dive deeply into the detail and zoom back for the big picture, identifying and assessing each level in between,
strip complex interactions back to their core elements and reassemble enhanced versions of them,
reframe the problem using a variety of contexts and frameworks,
connect ideas to identify and follow fruitful tangents, resulting in a broader range of possibilities, and
pre-optimise during the ideation phase, discarding unviable possibilities and weighting up the stronger candidates.

I continually create, modify and utilise personal frameworks to reliably deliver insight, reinventing and refining them as they are used. These are not yet in the public domain but cover topics including:

uncertainty, complexity and risk,
motive and opportunity,
insight & economic value,
signaling efficiency, and
meaningfulness v measurability.

I also adopt a large number of frameworks (or create hybrids by connecting ideas)from the public domain, including:

The Completeness Method,
Kevin Kelly's better than free model,
The six triggers of Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion, and
Value Innovation and the strategy canvas from Blue Ocean Strategy.

Where operating outside an existing framework, my flexibility allows me to create ad-hoc structure sufficient to deliver usable output and then take the reusable elements to create new, permanent frameworks for later reuse.
